Lin, Wan Ru
ABOUT
Lin, Wan-Ru 林宛儒 is a lens-based artist, graphic designer and curator. She was born in Taiwan but lives and works in London. She holds an MA and MRes in Photography from Goldsmith, University of London, and has her studio based at Thames-Side Studios. Her practice explores photography as a medium of transformation, focusing on how light and time interact with memory, perception, and place.
Fascinated by the possibilities of photography and videography, Wan-Ru blends analogue darkroom techniques with digital technologies and video. Her work challenges the boundaries of the image—shifting between documentary and abstraction, process and poetry. With a focus on process and aesthetics, she explores themes including time, dreams, the environment, and the materiality of photographic technologies, always questioning the image’s possibilities.
Her work has been exhibited across the UK and internationally, including at the Royal Scottish Academy (2021) and Royal Hibernian Academy (2022, 2025), and is held in public and private collections in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, and Taiwan.
